Location

There is a lot to see in historic Bennington. We can arrange you on a day's outing with our trustworthy tours Guides. Few minutes from us is the Bennington Museum, where you can walk back through history and view Revolutionary artifacts including the original Bennington Flag. The Grandma Moses Schoolhouse Museum has a fine collection of originals. Few minutes’ walk from the Museum brings you to the Old First Church... and up the Monument Avenue with its stately old Colonials is the Bennington Monument. A short ride to the top provides a panoramic tri-state view. There are three covered bridges in this area. We are also very close to the Hemmings Motor News, and a short drive to 18 holes panoramic golf or a quick-paced match of tennis. March back into history at the Bennington Battlefield in nearby Walloomsac, New York. Antique, craft and gift shops will lure you by day; and in the evening visit Bennington's Art Center which presents exhibits and theatre the year round.

To the north of us near Manchester there's Equinox Skyline Drive for truly outstanding views, and perhaps a picnic lunch high above the valley where Hildene (the home of Robert Todd Lincoln) can be toured. Norman Rockwell fans love the museum in Arlington. Then there's hiking the Long Trail, or perhaps a swim in crystal Lake Shaftsbury.

All our guest rooms offer newly decorated, cozy colonial charm, and all modern conveniences including private shower baths, color cable television, air conditioning, touchtone telephones individual heat thermostats, and most importantly, a comfortable night's rest. We offer a variety of local menus from area restaurants to guide you in your choice of dining. Each of our rooms overlooks our paddleboat pond and a beautiful panoramic Million Dollar View of the Vermont countryside and mountains. Whether it's for a brief family stay on your way to distant shores or taking some vacation time to enjoy the quiet traditions of Bennington's New England, we ask you to visit the West Road Motel. Your hosts at The West Road Motel provide an out-of-town country setting with flower strewn grounds...a pause in your travels for an 'AARP' to relax or a family to enjoy our activities.

If you stay long enough there's cross-country skiing at nearby Prospect Mountain, just one of the well-known slopes within 30 miles of the West Road Motel (including Bromley, Brodie, Stratton and Mt. Snow.) Come, be our welcomed guest!
